Empowering Practitioners for Peace

This handbook is specifically tailored for practitioners working to mitigate conflict and integrate peace and conflict analysis into long-term development programs. It also extends to non-development actors—diplomatic, political, security, trade, private sector, and finance—helping identify actionable strategies for peace. Early Warning analysis is ideally done in a workshop setting where participants represent the range of stakeholders from the community. Donors and other “interveners” may also use it in their program planning as a desk exercise. Analysis that reflects the inputs and priority setting of local actors is the optimum approach. The earlier this analysis is done, the better, as there will be more options for action.
